The Tivoli Pie
The Tivoli Pie, from the Victorian Western Collection, is a short-brimmed hat with a porkpie crown. The brim is pointed down in the front and back with turned-up sides. The Crown is telescoped down to 3”. Made from a velour-finished fur felt, it can be made in a range of lovely colors. The trim can be made from woven horse of the highest quality or ribbon. I always choose the right match for the hat. Choose your COLOR on Checkout.
All hats are handmade to order so will take from 2 - 3 weeks to make (3 if a color is out of stock) , if you need your hat more urgently please contact us before purchasing. Please email me with questions.
THE STORY OF THE TIVOLI PIE
Porkpies have a long history, and a variation of it started out being worn by women during the civil war. They moved their way to England, and back. Many notable owners form silent picture fame, and jazz musicians continued the trend. Today they are still very popular with musicians.
In my imagination, a few of them made their way out West. And eventually it became closer to a stingy brimmed gambler… with sweeping sides. Close to the Ben Wade’s hat in 3:10 To Yuma , but shorter brims, and shorter crown.
